Alexander Stadium in Birmingham will now serve as the official home venue for West Bromwich Albion Women, starting with the 2025–26 FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division season.
Bringing the Team Closer to Home
The agreement marks a return closer to their roots, situating matches just four miles from The Hawthorns, compared to their previous home at Redditch’s Valley Stadium—around 20 miles away.
A Step Up in Facilities and Ambition
Sporting Director Andrew Nestor praised the move as “a significant step forward” for the women’s programme, emphasising how the upgraded facilities and improved fan experience will benefit both players and supporters.
Head Coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still reflected similar optimism:
“It’s a really great venue to be playing our games at this season… it brings us much closer to our area, which will hopefully continue to grow our fanbase.”
The women’s team will take to the newly adopted home for the first time on Sunday 14 September 2025, facing Stoke City in their opening FAWNL Northern Premier Division fixture X (formerly Twitter)+6West Midlands News+6West Bromwich Albion+6.
A Venue with History—and Future
Alexander Stadium, with a seating capacity of around 17,500, is well known as the main venue for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and has undergone significant redevelopment in recent years.
It has become a hub for various sporting events, with further enhancements through the Legacy Capital Redevelopment Programme—creating a fit-for-purpose venue for football as well as athletics.
