What’s On in Walsall This August? Free Family Events, Outdoor Fun, and Local Highlights

From community carnivals to outdoor cinema, Walsall is bursting with free and low-cost events this August—offering something for everyone to enjoy during the summer holidays.

Walsall Council has rounded up the best of what’s happening across the borough this month, with a full line-up now live on their website. Families can expect a wide variety of events, including sports activities, arts and crafts, food festivals, and live performances, taking place in parks, town centres, and community venues.

Councillor Garry Perry, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Resilient Communities, said:

“Walsall is buzzing with energy this summer. We’re proud to support such a rich variety of events that bring people together, celebrate our communities, and offer fun for all ages.

Whether you want to enjoy live music, discover a new hobby, or simply spend time with family outdoors, there’s something on offer for everyone.”

Highlights this August include:

  • Walsall Arboretum’s free outdoor cinema screenings

  • Local carnivals and cultural celebrations

  • Creative workshops and nature play sessions for children

  • Health and wellbeing activities in parks and community centres

Many events are completely free, with others available at a low cost to make sure as many people as possible can take part.

Councillor Perry added:

“It’s not just about entertainment—these events also support wellbeing, promote community pride, and boost our local economy. I’d encourage everyone to check out what’s on and make the most of what’s happening in their local area.”
