Residents are being invited to share their views on plans for a new secondary school in Walsall, as a public consultation gets underway.
The proposed school, named Windsor Apollo Academy, would be built on the former Reedswood Golf Course site, next to Reedswood Park. People can take part in the consultation online via the Windsor Academy Trust website.
The project follows confirmation from the Department for Education that Walsall is one of 16 locations across England selected for a new school. The development would see around £50 million invested into creating a secondary school for up to 1,000 pupils, including 24 specialist SEND places.
Councillor Mark Statham, Portfolio Holder for Children’s, Families and Lifelong Learning at Walsall Council, said:
“ In December 2025, the Department for Education confirmed that Walsall had been selected as one of just sixteen new schools to be developed across England. Around £50 million will be invested to create a new school that will educate up to 1,000 local young people and provide 24 much needed, high need SEND places.
The school will be built on the former Reedswood Golf Course site – council owned land situated adjacent to Reedswood Park. The voices of residents and the wider community will be essential in shaping how the school takes shape, so I encourage everyone to get involved and share their views.
This new school will help us support long term demand for school places across Walsall, and ensure we meet our statutory duty to provide school places to all children. Schools offer so much more than education – they are central to our communities and play a vital role in helping children and families thrive.

The consultation launched alongside a community drop-in event held at Talbot House on Bentley Lane on 17 March, where residents were able to view early proposals and speak with representatives from the Department for Education and construction partner BAM.
Feedback gathered during the consultation will help shape a planning application, which is expected to be submitted to Walsall Council later this year.
Windsor Academy Trust has been appointed as the education partner for the new school. The Trust already runs two primary schools in the borough and has experience delivering similar projects elsewhere in the region.

The consultation will remain open until Tuesday 7 April 2026.
