Residents of Walsall can now enjoy free outdoor fitness opportunities, as new gym equipment has been installed in four local parks: Aldridge Airport, Pelsall Common, Pleck Park, and Holland Park. An additional installation is planned for Walsall Arboretum, expected to be completed by spring 2025.
To help residents make the most of these new facilities, Walsall Council’s Healthy Spaces team is offering complimentary ‘activation sessions’ during the February half-term. Qualified fitness staff will demonstrate proper equipment use and suggest effective workout routines. The sessions are scheduled as follows:
Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing at Walsall Council, emphasised the importance of these additions:
“The new equipment encourages healthy physical activity and, most importantly, is free for everyone to use. We hope that having this new equipment will attract more people to try it out for the first time.”
This initiative is part of Walsall Council’s ongoing commitment to enhancing local parks and open spaces, promoting active and healthy lifestyles within the community.
For more information on the new outdoor gym facilities and upcoming activation sessions, residents are encouraged to visit the Walsall Council’s official website.
