Royal Sutton Coldfield is once again rallying behind the UK’s largest community-led environmental campaign, the Great British Spring Clean, inviting residents to take pride in their local surroundings. Running from 13 to 29 March, the initiative encourages people across the town to make a simple pledge: pick up at least one bag of litter from their neighbourhood.
Backed by Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, the campaign continues to gain momentum locally, with residents, schools and community groups all playing their part in keeping the town’s streets, parks and green spaces looking their best.
Even the smallest actions can have a lasting impact. A single litter pick not only improves the appearance of an area but also protects wildlife, enhances shared spaces and fosters a stronger sense of community pride across Sutton Coldfield.
Cllr Cindy Yip, Town Mayor, said:
“The Great British Spring Clean is a brilliant opportunity to engage in your local area and help keep Royal Sutton Coldfield clean, tidy and welcoming. We are urging the community to show their love for where they live by getting involved. Whether that’s teaming up with a local group, or heading out for your own quick clean up, every single bag collected will help protect and preserve our streets, parks and beautiful green spaces. I would also like to thank the amazing community groups that work hard to keep the Town well-maintained and litter free.”
To support these efforts, the Town Council has already distributed more than 1,700 pieces of litter-picking equipment through the Sutton Coldfield Litter Action Group, helping residents take ownership of their local streets. For those keen to get involved, the council can provide equipment such as litter pickers, high-visibility tabards and bin bags, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Community litter picks can also be arranged, with the council offering guidance and connections to local groups already making a difference across the town.
