Christmas Waste Collection Changes Announced for Walsall Residents

Walsall Council has issued its updated waste and recycling schedule for the 2025 Christmas and New Year period, confirming a series of temporary changes that will affect around 35,000 households across the borough.

Council services will pause on Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December, and Thursday 1 January 2026, with collections on all other days operating as normal. During this time, many residents will see their bins collected on alternative dates.

Revised Household Collection Dates

Thursday 25 December Saturday 20 December – A maximum of TWO extra bags of waste will be taken. Thursday 8 January 2026
Friday 26 December Saturday 27 December – A maximum of ONE extra bag of waste will be taken. Friday 9 January 2026
Thursday 1 January 2026 Saturday 3 January 2026 – A maximum of ONE extra bag of waste will be taken. Thursday 15 January 2026

Household Waste & Recycling Centres

Both Fryers Road (Bloxwich) and Merchants Way (Aldridge) sites will be closed on:

  • Thursday 25 December

  • Friday 26 December

  • Thursday 1 January 2026

Bulky Waste, Replacement Bins & Commercial Waste

Bulky waste collections and the delivery of new or replacement bins will not operate on the three closure dates. The same applies to commercial waste services, which have the following revised collection dates:
