Aldridge Musical Comedy Society Celebrates VE Day 80th Anniversary with ‘Heroes and Sweethearts’ Concert

Aldridge Musical Comedy Society (AMCS) is set to present a moving concert, Heroes and Sweethearts, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The performance will run at the Rugeley Rose Theatre from May 1st to 3rd, 2025, offering audiences an emotional journey through the story of wartime Britain.

This heartfelt concert mirrors a similar production the company staged 10 years ago, marking the 70th anniversary of VE Day, with proceeds supporting the local Royal British Legion. Once again, a portion of ticket sales will benefit this vital charity.

The show has been crafted by Julie Lamb, a life member of AMCS, who also directed the 70th Anniversary concert. The performance is divided into two acts: Act 1 portrays the poignant story of men going off to fight, leaving behind their families, while Act 2 captures the joy and relief of VE Day with a celebratory street party atmosphere. The concert culminates in a rousing Proms-style finale.

Audiences can expect high-energy dance routines, comedy sketches, beautiful harmonies, and powerful full-company performances, all contributing to a truly emotive theatre experience. Now in its fifth decade of performance, AMCS has earned numerous accolades, including nominations and wins at the NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) Awards.

Performances are scheduled for May 1st to 3rd, with evening shows at 7:30 PM and a special matinee on May 3rd at 2:30 PM. Ticket prices start at £12.50 and can be purchased online at www.seaty.co.uk/heroes.
