Sutton Coldfield is set to honour the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a special beacon lighting ceremony on Thursday, 8 May 2025. The event will take place at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Church Hill, and is open to all members of the community.
Organised by the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, the evening aims to bring residents together to reflect on the end of World War II in Europe. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with local history groups, sharing memories and learning about past VE Day celebrations. Refreshments will be available, and while parking at the church is limited, the event promises to be a meaningful gathering for all ages.
The beacon lighting in Sutton Coldfield is part of a series of nationwide commemorations, with similar events taking place across the Midlands and the UK.
For more information about the event, residents can contact the Town Council at enquiries@suttoncoldfieldtowncouncil.gov.uk.
