Walsall residents are being invited to access practical support this winter, as a free “Winter Warm Up” event aims to help households reduce energy bills and stay comfortable during colder months.
Hosted by the Walsall Energy Action Project (WEAP), the drop-in event will take place at Walsall Town Hall on Tuesday 9 December, from 10am to 2pm. The session is designed to provide hands-on advice and support, with the Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Louise Harrison, also in attendance to address visitors.
Launched in April 2024, WEAP is a partnership between Walsall Council and voluntary and community sector organisations, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. Since its introduction, the project has delivered around 100 sessions and supported more than 5,000 residents with energy-saving guidance.
The Winter Warm Up event will offer a range of support, including:
- One-to-one energy advice
- Demonstrations of simple home efficiency improvements
- Help checking eligibility for grants and better tariffs
- Guidance on understanding energy bills and reducing costs

The event comes at a time when global climate discussions continue to highlight the importance of energy efficiency, with WEAP focusing on translating these conversations into practical, local action.
Open to residents, landlords and community groups, the session offers straightforward, impartial advice on heating, insulation and managing energy costs. No booking is required, and attendees can also enjoy free refreshments while accessing support.
